What is URHC?URHC stands for the United Residence Halls Council, and we are the second largest organization on campus! We represent the on-campus student body with initiatives and fun programs to get residence halls involved and connected. We accomplish this with individual residence hall's councils that plan and enact programs within their hall community. URHC executive board plans campus wide programs!
-
What does the organization do?We represent and support students through campus-wide events, student advocacy projects, and leadership opportunities. We oversee the governing body of Hall Councils, take delegations to conferences, and voice concerns for all on-campus students!
-
What type of programming do you do?We do a little bit of everything! From hot dogs and therapy dogs to happy hour (mocktail style) and charcuterie boards, we make sure to plan events for all types of students. Different types of activities will be available too, including passive (crafts, social time, etc...) and active (competitions, karaoke, and more!).
-
Who is a member of URHC?Every student that is living in a residence hall is a part of our organization! So do not hesitate to come to our events because they are meant for YOU! You DO NOT have to be a part of your hall council to come to our events either.
-
What is Hall Council?Every residence hall has a group of students dedicated to planning building-specific programming. They are similar to the URHC exec board that you see on this page, but they only cover their own building!
-
How do I get involved? If you want to join your Hall Council, please reach out to the Assistant Hall Director of your building. If you do not know who they are, please email us at urhc@utk.edu and we will connect you with the right people! If you do not have the time for a new organization, you can still come to our events, general body meetings, or even just stop by our office in Hess Hall!

Is this where I purchase from OCM?Great start! But we are just the partner to On-Campus Marketing. Go to ocm.com/utk and start purchasing there! Every time there is a purchase of carpets or care packages, we get a portion of the funds that's used in programming to help students! Therefore, you are supporting the future programs here just through the things you buy!
-
Can I purchase/return loft kits here?Almost! You can go to www.collegeproducts.com/knox and follow the directions on that website. Similar to our partnership with OCM, we get a portion of the profits from College Products and put them back into the student body through programs.
